Mathematical thinking development. 100 tasks.

Paperback

Part of: Fun activity workbook (2 books)

There are situations when we need to occupy our children with interesting educational tasks and distract them from gadgets or TV. Such tasks are not always at hand, so we have developed a special notebook containing a collection of educational exercises. These exercises are presented in a convenient and portable format that makes this so much simpler for parents and teachers.

If you have difficulty getting your child to do math, start with these unique and engaging exercises. The exercises will engage their curiosity, whilst developing the necessary learning skills of perseverance, the ability to achieve goals, paying attention, concentration, visual-spatial thinking, the ability to see patterns, and much more. Develop mathematical thinking while on vacation and on the road whenever there is a free minute.

Have fun competing with your child to see who can perform better or become their assistant as they overcome any difficulties. Just one exercise a day from the notebook and your child will be able to maintain their academic level and performance even during holidays and rest periods. During the school year, the notebook can be used in between classes to help prepare them mentally for the following lessons.

How does the notebook work? It is a collection of exercises based on certain topics:

- Concentration and attention

- Concentration and attention Copying a shape using cells

- Copying a shape using points

- Complete a symmetrical shape

- Drawing with a non–dominant hand

- Geometric representations

- Logical patterns

- Exercises to develop spatial awareness

Each topic corresponds to a specific Tetris figure marked at the bottom of the page. You can complete exercises according to the child’s preference or in turn from each category, but it is important to do them in order within one topic, since the exercises increase in complication as they progress.

For convenience, three achievement maps are presented (corresponding to the summer months) and the child paints over the Tetris figure of the completed task. Ask them to complete each Tetris figure in a different color depending on the category. When completing tasks and filling out the card, you will be able to clearly see the mindset of the child, their favourite exercises and, most importantly, the pace of their development.

There are practically no arithmetic exercises or overly-sophisticated tasks requiring specific knowledge in this collection, since all the selected exercises are suitable for any age; both preschoolers and adults can perform them. This approach helps instil an initial interest in mathematics and activates thought processes without resorting to complex calculations. Remember the ancient Chinese proverb: «The road of a thousand li begins with one step.» The child’s success in mathematics will depend on taking small, and quite simple steps. We wish you success on this journey!
